In Deep. A scooter tale.

I have always loved scooters. No matter what brand or model. Something about scooters has always really spoke to me. I think they’re a bit of an equalizer. Much like Volkswagens, everyone has a VW story. “My grandma picked me up from elementary school everyday in a yellow 70s beetle” “I had a square back for my first car” “I rolled my cousins beetle driving home from a party” the stories are endless. I find that scooters are not too dissimilar, especially for those in the European countries.

Ive always liked that they don’t want to immediately try to kill you like some motorcycles do. I like that they’re kinda “not cool”, scooters are stupid, they are silly and goofy. They go BEEP BEEP. And I love that.

Recently I got my first vintage Vespa. Im hooked. It’s the perfect amount of cool and uncool. It can be fast (for a scooter). It can be slow (for a motorcycle). It can be sleek. It can have 50 mirrors and lights on it (IYKYK). It can be whatever I want and it doesn’t need to be something it’s not.

I love the history of scooters. I love their ties to cycling. It’s everything I want out of a dumb little motorized two wheeled vehicle.

Since buying the vespa, i have replaced countless parts. Removed the carb 10+ times. Made custom gaskets (too impatient to wait for them to come in the mail). Jetted and rejetted. Dozens and dozens of test runs up and down Wells ave. Im very happy and very into these stupid scooter things.
